An Act clarifying a police chief's retirement earnings limitation.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 91 of Chapter 32 is hereby amended by adding a new sub-section (f) at the end of said section 91 as follows:

(f) Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraphs (a) to (d), inclusive, a retired police chief may provide consulting services to one or more municipalities, either personally or through a corporation or other business entity, for such amount of time and for such amount of money as the municipality determines so long as such retiree is not serving as that community’s police chief.

(g) The restrictions against post-retirement earnings contained in this section will not apply to a member of Group IV that subsequently serves as the Secretary of Public Safety and Security, the Assistant or Undersecretary of Public Safety, or works for the Municipal Police Training Committee in any capacity, and each of these persons may remain in said Group IV while working in such positions.
