SECTION 1. Paragraph (a) of section 2F of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the number “1,500” in the second sentence; in the third sentence; and in the fourth sentence and inserting in each place thereof the number: - 750.
SECTION 2. Paragraph (b) of section 2F of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is further amended by striking out the number “2” in the first and second sentences and inserting in each place thereof the number: - 5.
SECTION 3. The Registrar of Motor Vehicles shall produce an impact report no later than one year after the implementation of this act to describe and analyze the impact that implementation of this act has had on the following: (1) the overall fiscal impact to the registry of motor vehicles; (2) the number of distinctive license plates issued in the commonwealth; (3) software programming costs associated with the production of new distinctive license plates; and (4) any other cost impacts or savings directly or indirectly related to the implementation of this act. The registrar shall file said report with the clerks of the house of representatives and senate, the chairs of the house and senate committee on ways and means, and the chairs of the joint committee on transportation no later than January 15, 2017.
SECTION 4. The provisions of this act shall take effect 180 days following the passage of this bill.
