An Act authorizing the town of Mount Washington to establish, own and operate broadband infrastructure and services and to issue bonds or notes therefor.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Mount Washington may own, operate, maintain, manage or hire others to do so on its behalf, and to take any reasonable action necessary to establish and operate broadband high speed internet infrastructure and services without the establishment of a municipal light plant.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding clauses (8) and (8A) of section 8 of chapter 44 of the General Laws, the town of Mount Washington may borrow from time to time such sums as necessary for the purposes of this act. Any such debt may be issued for a term not to exceed 20 years, exclusive of the term of any temporary loan issued in anticipation thereof, and shall otherwise be subject to said chapter 44.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
