An Act relative to the special election in the city known as the town of Greenfield.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, a special election in the city known as the town of Greenfield may be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 to authorize the creation of a municipal telecommunications system; provided, however, that polls shall be open from 7:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M; and provided further, that notification shall be posted in the regular polling place and published in a local newspaper at least 14 days before the special election. All other dates set forth in the laws pertaining to the election shall apply.

SECTION 2.  The town clerk shall cause the following question to be printed on the special election ballot: “Shall the city known as the town of Greenfield establish a municipal telecommunications system?” 

Below the ballot question shall appear a fair and concise summary of the ballot question prepared by the town counsel.

If a majority of the voters vote in the affirmative on the foregoing question, the city known as the town of Greenfield shall be authorized to establish a municipal telecommunications system. 

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage
