An Act relative to the Public Office Liability and Safety Act (POLS Act).

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1: Chapter 3 of the Massachusetts General Laws is hereby amended by adding a new section;

Section 70. Notwithstanding any other general or special law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, any person deemed to be a prohibited person under section 129B or 131 of chapter 140 shall be ineligible to seek or hold public elected or appointed office within or representing the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Such offices shall include, but are not limited to:

1. Candidate for the President of United States from the Commonwealth and any positions or offices appointed by him or her candidates for which are residents of the Commonwealth,

2. United States Senate,

3. United States House of Representatives,

4. Governor and any positions or offices appointed by him or her,

5. All state constitutional offices,

6. State Senate,

7. State Representative,

8. Judges.
