An Act relative to preference for products or services manufactured or produced in the United States.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 7 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 25A the following section:-

Section 25B. The state purchasing agent shall give preference, as far as may be practicable and to the extent permitted by the General Laws, federal law, and federal treaty, to products or services manufactured or produced in the United States; provided, however, that in giving such preference no sacrifice or loss in price or quality shall be permitted; and provided, further, that preference in all cases shall be given to surplus products or articles produced and manufactured by other departments, institutions, or agencies of the commonwealth which are available for distribution.
