An Act redefining natural gas compressor station.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 1 of Chapter 164 of the General Laws as appearing in in the 2014 official edition is hereby amended by inserting the  following new definition:-

“Natural Gas Compressor Station”, a facility designed and constructed to compress natural gas that originates from an oil and gas well or collection of such wells operating as a midstream facility for delivery of oil and gas to a transmission pipeline, distribution pipeline, natural gas processing plant or underground storage field, including one or more natural gas compressors, associated buildings, pipes valves, tanks and other equipment.

SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, any natural gas compressor stations, as defined in SECTION 1 which are operationally and physically similar to an industrial use shall only be appropriate in industrial zoning districts, as provided in chapter 40E.
