An Act relative to responsible drivers.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 8 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the word “curriculum” in line 67 the following language:-

In addition to classroom and road training, a student shall complete a supervised defensive driving course, a form of training for motor vehicle drivers that goes beyond mastery of the rules of the road and the basic mechanics of driving with an aim to reduce the risk of collision by anticipating dangerous situations, despite adverse conditions or the mistakes of others. The course must comply with ANSI/ASSE Z15.1 and be approved by the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
