An Act removing tolls the tolls for residents of the Commonwealth in the western part of Massachusetts.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 6C of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 official edition, is hereby amended by striking out the following sentence from Section 13 subsection (a), found in lines 39 through 42:-

“The department shall devise and implement a fair and reasonable fee structure to charge and collect tolls for transit over the turnpike between interchange 1 in the town of West Stockbridge and interchange 6 in the city of Springfield at interstate highway route 291.”

And inserting in place thereof the following:-

“The department shall not charge tolls for transit over the Massachusetts turnpike between interchange 1 in the town of West Stockbridge and interchange 10A in the town of Auburn to any personal vehicle registered in the Commonwealth.”

SECTION 2. Nothing herein shall preclude said department from charging or collecting tolls for transit over the turnpike from any commercial vehicle registered in the Commonwealth or any personal or commercial vehicle not registered within the Commonwealth.
