An Act to establish a joint legislative commission to investigate and study the performances and practices of the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. A joint legislative commission is hereby established to investigate and study the performances and practices of the Registry of Motor Vehicles. The commission members shall be appointed jointly by the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, and shall consist of ten members as follows:-
(i) the Senate President shall appoint a Senate chairman and a second Senator, and the House Speaker shall appoint a House chairman and a second House member, the two chairman shall act as co-chairman;
(ii) a designee representing the Registry of Motor Vehicles;
(iii) and five private citizens.
The commission shall report to the general court the results of its study, together with drafts of legislation it may deem necessary to carry out such recommendations into effect, by filing same with the clerk of the Senate and of the House of Representatives within 1 year of the passage of this bill.
