An Act relative to fees at health clubs.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 80 of chapter 93 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the last paragraph the following:-

“If a buyer becomes physically or medically disabled for a period in excess of three months during the membership term, he or she shall have the option to be relieved of liability for payment on that portion of the contract term for which the buyer is disabled, or to extend the duration of the contract at no additional cost for a period equal to the duration of the disability.

No contract shall impose any type of fee for a period of three months if the buyer becomes physically and medically disabled and the disability is verified by a licensed physician.”
