An Act relative to licensure of equine dentists.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 54A of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the fourth paragraph the following paragraph:- “Equine dental practitioner”, a person who is a veterinarian or who is certified by the international association of equine dentistry.
SECTION 2. Chapter 112 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following new section:-
Section 54B. Applications for registrations as equine dental practitioners, signed and sworn to by the applicant, shall be made upon blanks furnished by the board. Each application who shall furnish the board with satisfactory proof that he is eighteen years of age or over, of good moral character, and is certified by the international association of equine dentistry shall, upon payment of a fee to be determined annually by the commissioner of administration under the provisions of section 3B of chapter 7, be examined and, if found qualified by the board, shall be registered as an equine dental practitioner and shall receive a certificate thereof, signed by the chairman and secretary. The board may refuse to grant a license to any person who shall have been convicted of a felony or who may be deemed unfit and after due notice and hearing may revoke any certificate issued by it and cancel the registration of any equine dental practitioner.
Every registered equine dental practitioner shall annually, before March 1st, pay to the board a license fee to be determined annually by the commissioner of administration under the provisions of section 3B of chapter 7, in default of which the board may revoke his license and his authority to practice the floating of teeth. An equine dental practitioner seeking license renewal shall present evidence satisfactory to the board of the successful completion of such continuing education as the board shall require by regulation.
