An Act relative to use of SBIRT in examinations for school attendance.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 57 of Chapter 71 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after the word results, in line 11, the following words: - “and to screen for substance use disorders through a verbal screening tool approved by the department of Public Health,”
And by inserting after the word department, in line 21, the following words: - “Substance use screenings shall be performed by physicians who are approved by the department of public health for the purpose, and shall be conducted at least once annually in grades 6 through 12.”
