An Act relative to access to official absentee and early voting data.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 9 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, after Section 31, the following section:-

Section 32. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the department of the secretary of state shall make available to state parties all updated official absentee and early voter data prepared by the election officers and registrars of every city and town in the Commonwealth upon a state party’s request. The request for access to official absentee and early voting data by a state party from the department of the secretary of state shall not exceed one request per day. The department of the secretary of state may promulgate rules and regulations necessary for the implementation of this section.
