An Act relative to inactive voters.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 59 of chapter 51 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the first paragraph the following paragraph:-

A voter who appears on the inactive voters list shall be permitted to vote without making written affirmation, signed under penalties of perjury, of the voter’s current and continuous residence in the municipality or, at a state primary or state election, residence in the municipality within the previous six months, if the voter is able to provide suitable identification to the presiding officer showing the voter’s name and address as listed on the inactive voters list. 

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
