An Act relative to safe in-patient alcoholism or substance abuse treatment.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 35 of Chapter 123 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:-

Any person who is committed to a facility for the care and treatment of alcoholism or substance abuse under this section shall be provided treatment through an in-patient treatment facility that shall not be located within a house of correction or prison.  The in-patient treatment facility may be located on the grounds of house of correction or prison.  However, there shall be means of access from the house of correction or prison to in-patient facility.
