An Act relative to the common core opt out for school districts.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education shall not mandate that any school district in the Commonwealth follow the curriculum standards offered by Common Core State Standards; provided further the school district shall be afforded the authority to exempt itself from the standardized exam known as the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career (PARCC). No school district so exempted shall be penalized by reason of such exemption.
