An Act relative to certain Option B and Option C retirees.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, a member who is receiving a lesser retirement allowance in accordance with the terms of Option B or Option C or a Survivor Benefit of Subdivision of Section (to be filled in by filer) of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, from a retirement system that accepts the provisions of this act, if a retired teacher of the Boston or Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System, and retired prior to July 2004, those who took an Option B shall have his retirement allowance increased by $542 ; if from the State Retirement System, or from a retirement system that accepts the provisions of this act , those who took an Option B and retired prior to July 2004 shall have his retirement allowance increased by $395. If a retired teacher of the Boston or Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System and took an Option C and retired prior to July 2004 shall receive an increase to his retirement allowance of $1800; if from the State Retirement System, or from a retirement system that accepts the provisions of this act, those who took an Option C and retired prior to July 2004, shall have his retirement allowance increased by $1200. Those who are survivors of members who were teachers of the Boston or Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System and the members retired prior to July 2004, the survivors retirement allowance shall be increased by $1200; those who are survivors of members of the State Retirement System or from a retirement system that accepts the provisions of this act, and the members retired prior to July 2004, the survivors retirement allowance shall be increased by $900. For purposes of the Act, the State Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement Systems shall be deemed to have accepted the provisions of this act.
