An Act relative to the residency requirement for the town manager of the town of Shrewsbury.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 7 of Chapter 559 of the Acts of 1953 is hereby amended by striking the following sentence therein: "He need not be a resident of the town or of this commonwealth when appointed, and shall not during the twelve months prior to his appointment have held any elective office in the town of Shrewsbury, but shall be a resident of the town during his term of office." and inserting in place thereof the following sentence: "The town manager need not be a resident of the town or of this commonwealth when appointed, and shall not during the twelve months prior to the appointment have held any elective office in the town of Shrewsbury, but shall be a resident of the town during the term of office, unless the residency requirement is otherwise modified by vote of the selectmen."
SECTION 2. This amendment shall become effective upon its passage.
