Kocot and Geoff Diehl that the commissioner of the Division of Energy Resources be authorized to convene a working group to study the reduction of contaminants in wood pellet fuel.  Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture.

An Act relative to wood pellet fuel.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

"SECTION 1.  Section 1 of chapter 25A of the General Laws is hereby amended at the end thereof by adding the following:-  "...provided that the commissioner shall convene a working group to study the reduction of contaminants in wood pellet fuel sold in the Commonwealth, including, but not limited to arsenic, chromium, copper, construction debris, preservative treated and painted wood and to establish methods to reduce the health impacts of using wood pellet fuel, including establishing minimum product standards similar to the "EN Plus" ratings (AEBIOM)system criteria provided through the European Biomass Association and a product labeling protocol to inform wood pellet fuel consumers."
