Section 38Q of chapter 71, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the first paragraph the following paragraph:-
Every school district in the commonwealth shall ensure that paraprofessionals and teacher assistants assigned to work with a teacher who has primary oversight of a school age child requiring special education, as defined in section 1 of chapter 71B, receive training in student behavior management within 60 days of assignment to such responsibility. School boards may provide such training to other employees, including transportation employees. The department of elementary and secondary education, in consultation with the University of Massachusetts, shall develop an online training that school districts may use to fulfill the requirements of this paragraph; provided, that the online training shall be provided to every school district free of charge.
