An Act regarding homeless shelter beds for unaccompanied young adults.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to provide separate sections specifically providing beds for unaccompanied young adults experiencing homelessness who are aged from 18 to 24 years old, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Chapter 23B of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section 31. A homeless shelter receiving state or federal funding shall cooperate with the department in providing separate sections specifically providing beds for unaccompanied young adults experiencing homelessness who are aged from 18 to 24 years old.

SECTION 2. The department of housing and community development shall promulgate rules and regulations to implement the provisions of this act.
