An Act relative to improving elevator inspection procedures.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 64 of Chapter 143 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:-
"The secretary of the executive office of public safety shall provide a publicly accessible online database of all elevators inspected in the past twelve months, the location of said inspections, the location of all pending inspections, the amount of time each pending inspection has been on a waiting list, the number of state certified elevator inspectors and their geographic distribution, the inspection backlog for each inspector, the number of elevators out of service due to inspection violations, non-inspection or disrepair and the agency's action plan and cost estimate for reducing said inspection backlogs to three days or less, and shall provide a report of efforts to improve inspection protocols and reduce inspection backlogs, on a bi-annual basis, to the House and Senate committees on ways and means and the House and Senate committees on post audit and oversight".
