Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Chapter 94 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 295B the following section:-

Section 295B 1/2. (a) Any retail dealer of motor fuel for sale to the public shall provide on the premises  an air compressor for the purpose of tire inflation and a gauge for measuring air pressure available for free public use 24 hours a day.  Such air compressor shall be capable of producing at least 80 pounds per square inch pressure at the outlet. Each retail dealer shall display and maintain on such air compressor a sign, clearly visible and not less than 8 inches by 10 inches in size, stating the availability of an air compressor for free public use 24 hours a day. The department of public safety, hereinafter the department, shall provide each retail dealer with a sign displaying a diagram for proper tire inflation, which the retail dealer shall display directly near the air compressor.

(b) The department shall establish a hotline for consumers to report retail dealers that are not in compliance with this section, and shall make the number to such hotline available to the public on the department’s website. The department shall keep a record of complaints and shall investigate each complaint of non-compliance received.

(c) All retail dealers of motor fuel for sale to the public shall have 5 years from the date this section takes effect to comply with the requirements herein.
