An Act establishing preschool partnerships with local school districts.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 71 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 90 the following section:-

Section 90A. “pre-school provider” shall mean provider of child care to children ages 0 through 5, and shall include, but is not limited to: public, private, non-profit and for-profit pre-schools; child care centers; nursery schools; pre-schools operating within public and private schools; Head Start programs; independent and system-affiliated family child care homes; and local early education and care councils.

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, school districts may partner with pre-school providers within the same city or town, or, for a regional school district, within a city or town that is part of the regional school district, and any pre-school provider partnered with a school district pursuant to this section shall be eligible to receive foundation aid.
