An Act relative to civil service status.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. The first paragraph of section 26 of chapter 31 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out clause (4) and inserting in place thereof the following 2 clauses:-
(4) a high school graduate who within 10 years of graduation from such high school to a position in the town of such graduation; and (5) all others, in the order of their respective standings.
SECTION 2. Section 3 of chapter 31A of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after clause (b) the following clause:-
(b½) the provisions of chapter 31 contained in clause (4) of section 26 providing for a high school graduate in the town of graduation preference.
