Moran and others (with the approval of the mayor and city council) that the city of Methuen be authorized to appoint Sean Fountain to the position of permanent intermittent police officer, notwithstanding the provisions of the charter of said city. An Act authorizing the appointment of Sean Fountain to the position of permanent intermittent police officer of the police department of the city of Methuen.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1: Notwithstanding the provisions of the City Charter of the City of Methuen or any general or special law to the contrary, a waiver of Article 2, Section 2-5 of the Methuen Home Rule Charter is hereby approved for the specific and sole purpose of providing for the eligibility of Sean Fountain, prior to the expiration of his term as City Councilor on December 31, 2007, to be appointed to the position of Permanent Intermitten Police Officer of the Methuen Police Department.
Section 2: Said appointment is to be made by the Mayor, Stephen N. Zanni and submitted to the City Council of the City of Methuen for its approval, forthwith.
Section 3.This act shall take effect upon its passage.
