By Representative Rogers of Norwood and Senator Rush, a joint petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 3748) of John H. Rogers and Michael F. Rush (by vote of the town) relative to the appointment of the positions of town clerk and town accountant in the town of Norwood.  Municipalities and Regional Government.  [Local Approval Received.]

An Act relative to the town clerk and town accountant in the town of Norwood.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 197 of the acts of 1914 is hereby amended by striking out section 6 and inserting in place thereof the following 2 sections:-

Section 6A. The selectmen elected as provided in section 2 shall appoint a person suitably qualified to the office of town clerk. The town clerk shall enjoy all the powers and rights and be subject to all the duties and liabilities conferred or imposed by law upon town clerks, and shall hold office for 3 years from the date of appointment and until a successor is chosen and qualified, except as is herein otherwise provided. In case of a vacancy in the office, the selectmen forthwith shall fill the vacancy for the unexpired term.

Section 6B. The selectmen elected as provided in section 2 shall appoint a person suitably qualified to the office of town accountant. The town accountant shall enjoy all the powers and rights and be subject to all the duties and liabilities conferred or imposed by law upon town accountants, and shall hold office for 3 years from the date of appointment and until a successor is chosen and qualified, except as is herein otherwise provided. In case of a vacancy in the office, the selectmen shall fill the vacancy for the unexpired term.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on July 1, 2018.
