An Act Authorizing the City of Newburyport to hold a special election for the purpose of accepting the terms of Clause 41C½ of Section 5 Chapter 59 of the Massachusetts General Laws.

 

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to to authorize the City of Newburyport to hold a special election, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the City of Newburyport, by majority vote of the city council, may call for and conduct a special election for the purpose of accepting the terms of Clause 41C½ within Section 5 of Chapter 59 of the Massachusetts General Laws.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
