By Representative Schmid of Westport and Senator Rodrigues, a joint petition (subject to Joint Rule 12) of Paul A. Schmid, III and Michael J. Rodrigues that the Director of Animal Health be authorized to require annual training for municipal animal inspectors.  Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture.

An Act requiring annual training for municipal animal inspectors.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 18 of chapter 129 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:-

The director shall establish mandatory annual training programs for all municipal animal inspectors. Such training shall be designed to ensure that inspections are conducted on a consistent basis and that inspectors are educated on matters including but not limited to animal welfare, nutrition, neglect, and abuse. Every municipal animal inspector shall annually complete such training.
