An Act amending the act establishing a finance department in the town of Harvard.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 85 of the acts of 1993 is hereby amended by striking out section two and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

Section 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of General Laws chapter 41, section 25, or any other provisions of general or special laws to the contrary, the Selectmen of the Town of Harvard may appoint three members of the Board of Assessors for three year terms, such terms so arranged that the term of one member shall expire each year, which members shall be subject to removal for cause by the Board of Selectmen or, alternatively, the Board of Selectmen may appoint as the single and sole assessor of said town any suitable individual or company, and said assessor shall not be required, as a condition of employment or contract, to be an inhabitant, citizen or resident of said town. The Town Administrator shall designate an employee or employees to supervise all employees assisting in the performance of assessing functions.
