To the Honorable Senate and House of Representatives,

Pursuant to the provisions of Article II, Section 8, Paragraph 1, Clause (2) of the Amendments to the Constitution, as appearing in Article LXXXIX of said Amendments, I am filing for your consideration the attached legislation entitled, “An Act Regarding the Authorization of the Town of Wareham to Issue an Additional License for the Sale of Wines and Malt Beverages to be Drunk on the Premises.”

I am filing this special legislation on behalf of the Wareham Board of Selectmen and the Town Administrator

On August 30, 2018, I signed legislation authorizing the town of Wareham to grant an additional wine and beer license for off-site consumption.  In fact, the town expected that the license permit the licensee to sell the beverages on the premises. This legislation will correct that error.

I urge your early and favorable consideration of this bill.

An Act regarding the authorization of the town of Wareham to issue an additional license for the sale of wines and malt beverages to be drunk on the premises.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.    Section 1 of chapter 236 of the acts of 2018 is hereby amended by striking out, in the first sentence, the word “not”. 

SECTION 2.   This act shall take effect upon its passage.
