An Act providing for safe, decent and sanitary housing for recipients of the HomeBASE program.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Item 7004-9316 of section 2 of chapter 133 of the acts of 2016 is hereby amended by adding the following words:- ; provided, that for the safety of families utilizing HomeBASE funds provided for in this item for rental housing, an apartment or dwelling unit shall pass Department of Housing and Community Development inspection requirements or meet United States Department of Housing and Urban Development housing quality standards prior to occupancy and shall be inspected annually if any state funds are utilized for rental upon the anniversary of the commencement of the rental agreement; and provided, further that the local vendor for the HomeBASE funds where the dwelling is located and funds utilized shall be responsible for facilitating the inspection.
