An Act amending victim compensation statute.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 2(e) of chapter 258C of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking the word “shall” and inserting in place thereof the word “may.”
SECTION 2. Said section 2(e), as so appearing, is further amended by inserting after the second sentence thereof the following sentence:-
In the event of a victim’s death by homicide, said award may be reduced except the costs for appropriate and modest funeral, burial, and/or cremation services shall be paid by the fund.
