SECTION 1. Section 21 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the figure “24G”, in line 43, the following words:- , or whoever refuses to obey the lawful commands of a police officer in violation of section 25A.
SECTION 2. Said chapter 90 is hereby amended by inserting after section 25, as so appearing, the following section:-
Section 25A. Whoever, while operating or in charge of a motor vehicle or riding as a passenger in a motor vehicle, shall refuse to obey the lawful commands of a police officer, including, but not limited to: (i) stay where you are; (ii) don’t move; (iii) place your hands on the steering wheel; (iv) get out of the vehicle; (v) get into the vehicle; or (vi) any other command used to maintain control for the protection of the occupants of the motor vehicle and the police officer shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000. A conviction of a violation of this section shall revoke the license or right to operate of the person so convicted for not more than 6 months.
