An Act relative to non-compete agreements for veterinarians.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 official edition, is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section 59B. Any contract or agreement which creates or establishes the terms of a partnership, employment, or any other form of professional relationship with a veterinarian registered to practice veterinary medicine pursuant to section 55 of this chapter, which includes any restriction of the right of such veterinarian to practice veterinary medicine in any geographic area for any period of time after the termination of such partnership, employment or professional relationship shall be void and unenforceable with respect to said restriction; provided, however, that nothing herein shall render void or unenforceable the remaining provisions of any such contract or agreement.
