SECTION 1. Section 56 of chapter 93 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, in line 46, after the word “days” the following words: , or you have been a victim of identity theft and submit a valid police report relating to the theft.
SECTION 2. Section 59 of said chapter 93, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof, the following subsection:-
(f) A consumer reporting agency shall not charge a consumer for any disclosures or a copy of a consumer report for a consumer who is a victim of identity theft or his spouse, provided that the victim has submitted a valid police report relating to the identity theft to the consumer reporting agency.
SECTION 3. Section 62A of said chapter 93, as so appearing is hereby amended by striking out the eleventh paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
A consumer reporting agency shall not charge a fee to any consumer who elects to freeze, lift or remove a security freeze from a consumer report.
