An Act to protect the privacy of lottery winners.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 24 of Chapter 10 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting, at the end of the first paragraph, the following:--
“Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the name, address or other identifying information of any holder of a winning lottery ticket shall not be deemed public records of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission and shall not be subject to section 10 of chapter 66 of the General Laws. Furthermore, the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission shall not publicly disclose the name, address or other identifying information of any holder of a winning ticket or require any winning ticket holder to perform any public actions in connection with the awarding, payment or collection of prize moneys where a holder of a winning ticket provides a written request to the Commission.”
