An Act relative to hearses.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the definition of “hands-free mobile telephone” the following new definition”-
“Hearse”, any motor vehicle or object on wheels, having motive power of its own, or which is drawn by, or used in combination with a motor vehicle, that is regularly used in the course of business of the transportation of the deceased, though that business need not be conducted by a licensed funeral director or embalmer.
SECTION 2. The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Funeral Directors and Embalmers is hereby directed to promulgate regulations to accommodate the inclusion of the definition of “hearse” referenced in section 1 of chapter 90 of the General Laws.
