_______________
An Act authorizing the State Retirement Board to grant creditable service to John Lyons.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, and in order to promote the public good, the State Board of Retirement shall credit John Lyons, an employee of the Division of Local Services at the Department of Revenue, with full-time creditable service for his employment service already so rendered from May 7, 1984 to May 6, 1991 to the Town of Millis for the purpose of determining a retirement allowance under Chapter 32 of the General Laws. John Lyons must satisfy all other applicable eligibility requirements for a retirement allowance as set forth in Chapter 32 of the General Laws, and under the rules and regulation of the State Board of Retirement.
Eligibility for this creditable service shall be conditioned upon payment by John Lyons to the state employees’ retirement system of an amount equal to the retirement contributions that would have been deducted under said Chapter 32 if he had received regular compensation during this entire period at a full-time annual rate based on the annual rate of regular compensation that he was receiving, plus buy back interest thereon. Such repayment shall be made in one lump sum or in installments under terms and conditions as the State Retirement Board shall prescribe. Any such payments must be completed prior to the effective date of any retirement allowance requested.
The Norfolk County Retirement Board shall reimburse the State Board of Retirement pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (c) of sub-section 8 of section 3 of chapter 32 of the General Laws for creditable service described herein.
