(2017-2018)
_______________
An Act establishing the month of May as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart the month of May as Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month to increase public awareness and understanding of cystic fibrosis as a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives of children and young adults are cut far too short. The proclamation shall recommend that the month of May be observed in an appropriate manner by the people.
