An Act relative to bicycle safety.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1:  Subsection (8) of section 11B of chapter 85 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the following words:- “either a lamp emitting a red light, or a red reflector visible for not less than six hundred feet when directly in front of lawful lower beams of headlamps on a motor vehicle” and inserting the following words:- “a lamp emitting a red light visible from a distance of at least six hundred feet” and by inserting, in lines 69 and 70, after the phrase "front of his bicycle" the following language:- “or on the helmet of an operator”

SECTION 2: Subsection (11) of section 11B of chapter 85 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the following words:- “twenty dollars” and inserting the following words:- “fifty dollars”
