An Act relative to the Springfield Technology Park.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Subsection (b) of section 125 of chapter 273 of the Acts of 1994 is hereby amended by striking the words “computer science department of the”.

SECTION 2.  Said subsection (b) is hereby further amended by striking the words “Center for Advanced Fiberoptic Applications” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “Massachusetts Technology Park Corporation”.

SECTION 3.  Subsection (c) of said of section 125 of chapter 273 of the Acts of 1994 is hereby amended by striking out paragraph (2) and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-

“(2)  The corporation shall be governed by a board of twelve directors, four of whom shall be appointed by the board of trustees, three of whom shall be appointed by the governor, one of whom shall be appointed by the secretary of the executive office of housing an economic development, one of whom shall be the President of the college, ex officio, one of whom shall be the mayor of the City of Springfield, ex officio, or his designee, one of whom shall be the planning director of the City of Springfield, ex officio, and one of whom shall be appointed by the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce.  Of the governor’s appointees, at least one shall be a person experienced in financial aspects of real estate development and management, at least one shall be a person experienced in planning, and at least one shall be a person experienced in college administration.”

SECTION 4.  Paragraph (5) of said subsection (c) of said of section 125 of chapter 273 of the Acts of 1994 is hereby amended by striking out the work “site.” and inserting in place thereof the following words:-

“site; and (iii) to grow and promote the telecommunications, information technology and manufacturing sectors of the Massachusetts economy.”
