An Act authorizing the Brookfield Housing Authority to convey a certain parcel of land and the buildings thereon.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to authorize the Brookfield Housing Authority to convey a certain parcel of land and the buildings thereon, therefore, it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, and subject to the approval of the Department of Housing and Community Development, the Brookfield Housing Authority is hereby authorized to transfer ownership without monetary consideration to the Oxford Housing Authority of the land and the buildings thereon located in the town of Brookfield, described in a deed dated October 4, 1982, recorded in the Worcester District Registry of Deeds in Book 7568 page 309; said property to be owned and operated by the Oxford Housing Authority to continue to provide housing for families of low income under the housing program established by chapter 705 of the acts of 1966 in accordance with the provisions of the chapter 121B of the general laws and with the regulations of the department of housing and community development.

SECTION 2. In the operation of the housing authorized to be conveyed to it in section 1 of this act, the Oxford Housing Authority shall provide a preference for admission to housing applicants who are residents of the town of Brookfield.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
