An Act relative to physician assistants.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 2 of Chapter 176S of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “commission” in line 1, the following words “in addition to the Secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services”.
Section 2 of Chapter 176S of the General Laws, as so appearing, is further amended by inserting after the word “carriers” in line 2, the following words –“including the medical assistance program administered by the office of Medicaid pursuant to Chapter 118E and in accordance with Title XIX of the Social Security Act or any successor statute.
Section 8 of Chapter 118E of the General Laws, as so appearing, is amended by adding the following paragraph to subsection e1/2 –
“A participating provider physician assistant practicing within the scope of such physician’s license, including all regulations requiring collaboration with or supervision by a physician under section 9E of Chapter 112, shall be considered qualified within this Chapter’s definition of primary care provider to an insured.”
