Resolve relative to a special commission on public housing.

 

Resolved, SECTION 1. There shall be a special commission for the purpose of studying the current need for state public housing and the costs involved in constructing additional public housing units.

SECTION 2. The commission shall include the secretary of the executive office of housing and economic development, who shall serve as chair, the undersecretary of housing and community development, 2 members of the senate, 1 of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader; 2 members of the house of representatives, 1 of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader; 1 representative of Mass Housing; 1 representative of the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association; 1 representative from the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless; 1 representative from the Community Preservation Coalition; 1 representative of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, 1 resident of public housing authorities to be appointed by the governor, and 1 representative of the Massachusetts Municipal Association.

SECTION 3. The commission shall issue a report of its findings and recommendations with the clerks of the senate and house of representatives and the chairs of the house and senate committees on ways and means not later than December 31, 2017.
