An Act providing fire chiefs with access to CORI information.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section:-

Section 172J. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 172, criminal offender record information shall be available to a municipal fire chief, upon request, for the purposes of evaluating a candidate for a firefighter or emergency medical technician position.

SECTION 2. Subsection (a) of Section 172 of said Chapter 6 is hereby amended by adding the following clause:-

(31) A municipal fire chief may obtain from the department data permitted under section172J.
