An Act advocating literacy in schools.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 6 of chapter 64H of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following new subsection:-
(yy): Sales of newspapers, magazines, books, activity books, writing implements, toys and games, professional books, classroom accessories, library builders, workbooks, and teaching resources that are sold for the purpose of promoting literacy and are sold at an event held by a school district or commonwealth charter school which serves elementary and secondary school students or a preschool receiving public funds. Provided however, that no more than three such events shall be tax exempt in one fiscal year.
