Section 1.
Chapter 118E of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 9F the following new section:
Section 9G. Newborn enrollment
(a) In the case of a newborn(s) born to a mother who is covered by MassHealth at the time of birth and who will be required to enroll in managed care, the newborn(s) shall initially be enrolled in MassHealth fee-for-service from the date of birth until a parent or guardian selects a managed care plan, provided that if no such selection is made during the first forty -five days of life, on day forty-six, the newborn may be assigned to a managed care plan by the Secretary who shall give preference to assigning the infant to the same managed care plan as that of other children in the household or of either parent or guardian.
