An Act to protect furloughed federal employees.

 

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to  protect employees, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 1. Section 6 of Chapter 151A is hereby amended by inserting after the final sentence of subsection (e), the following sentence:

Notwithstanding the provisions of this subsection, the term “employment” will include service provided in the employ of the United States government if and only if that service has been interrupted, suspended or terminated as a result of the shutdown or partial shutdown of the United States government that began on December 22, 2018;
